Image
In this episode, Ms. Swati Salunke, speaks about Parenting. Parenting is a world by itself, something which we all undergo or look forward to. Parenting has changed over time and has become a concern for all. Certain concerns as a counselor that we see it could be something related to physical development, social development, managing tantrums, safety, studies or learning. From an early age, the typical parent concern is physical development, language and social development, managing tantrums, Misbehaviours, learning, discipline and of course safety. Physical development is an important aspect of any child, which involves a cyclic development, watching out on certain milestones along with time for crawling may be speaking, toilet training, and also eating. Parenting Part 3

Image
In this episode, Ms. Swati Salunkhe highlights another area of concern in parenting, i.e. Managing Tantrums, Misbehaviour and learning among kids irrespective of their ages, as of now, talking about younger kids where they are starting their school or academic life, maybe playgroup, pre-primary, nursery, senior Kg or First standard onwards. Parents say that I discipline, but he just does not listen, or he becomes adamant on certain things as he requires certain ABC or XYZ, we are talking about tantrums or misbehavior. As adults have a fixation of certain things like food, clothing, etc., so does our kids. They get fixated to certain toys, dress or something to eat. Again there is a thin line parent need to be observant about. We, giving our wholeheartedly everything to the child, can just be a beginning of all these things. As parents, grandparents or other family members, we provide our children with anything and everything they feel like could be right from a separate bed, pillow

Parenting Part 2

In this episode, Ms. Swati Salunke speaks about two more concerns, i.e. Safety & Discipline for children. Discipline-one word all adults speak and try to inculcate in their young children. Discipline is a way of life, some say it is required, some say the child will pick up, some say any way the child will learn later on, what is the point in disciplining now. There is a very thin line between Strictness and Discipline. As counselors, we believe there are certain disciplines to be imbibed right from childhood. Nothing major something, very simple as, sleeping habits and eating habits. To start with- what, kids at that age require? In the initial stage, a child requires 12-15 hours of sleep, sometimes even 18 hours, later on, it goes on reducing. During the child’s academic years, Parents need to ensure that the child sleeps for eight to nine hours. There has to be a sleeping discipline, at  9:00  pm- lights out, means lights out. Developing a sleeping pattern or habit among

Many people are talking about following passion or interest or intelligence or personality. This is a question which would be bothering you all. A lot of parents want their children to follow what they like to do or their passion lies or whatever is his/her interest. We are living in an age wherein there are multiple interests and there are people who are still unclear about their own interest. Passion requires a lot of patience. You need to have the right kind of skill sets and attitude to know what exactly is your passion. Interest fades away with time and with experience, it may changes. Very few people have the same interest. It need not be the same for everyone. People may have an interest and
